SIPF/Independent Filmakers' Fund

The NZ Film Commission has just announced it’s withdrawal from the Independent Filmmakers’ Fund, a partnership with Creative New Zealand.

In these times of economic pressure, the NZ Film Commission needs to focus its resources as closely as possible to the primary goals of investment in long and short form narratives, including the recently announced low budget initiatives.

The NZ Film Commission has greatly valued its long relationship with Creative New Zealand, and the filmmakers that both organisations have collectively been able to support. The partnership began in 1984 as the Creative Film and Video Fund and has continued for 25 years as the Screen Innovation Production Fund from 1996 and most recently as the Independent Filmmakers’ Fund.

Please rest assured that the NZ Film Commission is committed to developing up and coming feature filmmaking talent through narrative short filmmaking.  We are currently working out how short films can be a part of the new low budget strategy.
