It is open to New Zealand feature film screenwriter and producer teams who have a project in development with NZFC that has already reached at least a second draft.
Application Deadline: Friday 12th February 2010 at 5 pm.
Application requirements and more information are available in the download here.
The fourth NZFC Re-Write Workshop took place on the 16th-18th of April 2009 and for the first time Screen Australia was invited to send a project. The three teams selected from NZ were Sima Urale & Nik Beachman with Moana, Gillian Ashurst & Catherine Fitzgerald with Almost a Million and Paolo Rotondo, Rob Mokaraka, Fraser Brown & Gemma Gracewood with Strange Resting Places. The Australian project was A.K.A. with writer/director Steve Pasvolsky and producer Joanne Weatherstone. This year’s tutors were Claire Dobbin from Australia with Philippa Campbell (NZ), Rob Ritchie (UK) and Wendall Thomas (US).
‘Thanks to the input of this workshop, I feel that the next draft of our script will be of a level that would have taken me several more drafts to get to on my own. It has allowed us to explore our relationship as producer and writer – ensuring we are both clear about the kind of film we want to make and how we will work together to achieve it.’ - Gillian Ashurst
‘It was nice to be in a supportive and safe environment where we could be honest and receive some hard truths about where we're at and how to get out of that dark and lonely space that we often find ourselves in.’ - Sima Urale
‘We had an amazing time - spiritually and educationally. I am sure our careers have benefitted greatly and hope we can bring a production back to NZ soon!’ - Steve Pasvolsky
