NZFC will assist up to 8 successful applicants to attend the workshops in Melbourne (Wed 21st – Fri 23rd Oct) or in Sydney (Mon 26th – Wed 28th Oct).

Over three days, participants on the Foundation Development Workshop will be introduced to a structured approach to assessing scripts and preparing a development strategy.  By examining produced screenplays and reading early work by new screenwriters, participants will consider what makes a good screen story and learn to recognise screenwriting talent.

This is an intense and highly practical course. Participants will be required to read scripts and produce written feedback reports overnight between each day of teaching. The course will be run by Script Factory Directors Lucy Scher and Justine Hart. All written work will be marked by them and participants will receive individual feedback on their progress.

The workshop is designed for those seeking to develop professional analytical assessment and development skills. It is designed for writers, people who work with writers and those who make judgments on story material. We will also consider applications from those with strong track records in allied fields who wish to step into this area. From the pool of applications one additional person will be selected to be trained as a tutor, with a view to running this course in New Zealand in the future.
