A social commentary watching the lives of five 15 & 16 year olds as each “slice of their life” is revealed on the hour from 12 midnight until 5am.
Sometimes real life needs no verbal explanation. Sometimes life gets in the way of living because survival at any cost is the goal.
Petra, Harvest, Mark, Cole and Ethan are all in the same class at high school. All have their external battles, things they have no control over which gives rise to their internal ones. The one thing they have on their side is time. Silently they all hope that time will improve their lives.
They say the best years of your life are those at school. The social leveller. Uniforms make everyone look the same. Subjects are designed and implemented to judge peoples levels of competence, who is good at Math, English or Sports. But sometimes one size does not fit all.
Our 5 young people are not victims, they are survivors, and caregivers. Some of them ensure the survival of those around them as they suffer in silence. The 5 know the way out of their situations is to keep moving forward and sometimes an acknowledgement from an unexpected source is what they need to keep going.
This story is about 5 resilient teenagers and a glimpse into their lives, the struggle that is their day-to-day reality and how they choose not to let it define who they will become.
This film is based on true accounts.
