The New Zealand Film Commission is looking for an experienced Senior Legal and Business Affairs Executive to join its Auckland based team.

Reporting to our Head of Legal and Business Affairs, this role will be responsible for improving our Terms of Trade, Guidelines and investment agreement templates. You will also provide legal support to our Co-Production and Incentives team in relation to the administration of Official Co-Production Certification and the Screen Production Rebate and work with our Policy team on Official Information Act requests, Select Committee Requests and privacy concerns.

The Senior Legal and Business Affairs Executive will ensure that the NZFC is complying with relevant legislation and with principles of good decision making. They will also work with our policy team on improving and ensuring compliance with our policies and procedures. When required, you may also assist with drafting film development and production funding agreements and managing multi-party investment transactions, including negotiations with producers, lenders, completion guarantors, broadcasters and distributors.

We are looking for an organised and resilient lawyer, with great problem-solving, legal and communication skills, who is self-motivated and self-reliant. 

To be considered for this role, you will hold a current New Zealand practising certificate and have at least 15 years’ relevant post-qualification experience working in the television and film industry, or in banking and finance, or in central or local government.

Location: Auckland preferred, but we will consider Wellington for the right person.
